Arbor Day Celebration and Good Turn - March 20, 2010
Through a partnership program with theNational Arbor Day Foundation and in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America the Old Hickory Council will provide a hardwood tree to every unit in the council to plant at their meeting site or other appropriate location. Each Scout will also be provided an evergreen tree to take home and plant with their family. One tree provided by National, BSA, will be planted at Raven Knob and another at the Scouting Service Center in a special ceremony to commemorate the 100th Anniversary. Scouting families will be encouraged to explore their family tree and experience Scouting as something to be shared between generations. Families can download a special Generations Connection Family Tree Brochure and Family Certificate by going to www.scouting.org/100years and clicking on "Generations Connection" under "Celebrating 100 Years" in the title bar. |
