An endowment is by its nature a gift of vision. Although the Old Hickory Council, like other Scouting councils across the country, needs dollars to operate on a daily basis, it is through gifts of vision that the future of Scouting will be provided for.
It takes a special type of person, however, to give a gift whose benefit will most likely not fully be felt during their lifetime. It is what we might call a truly selfless act, designed to benefit others who you may never know.
There are many types of endowment vehicles, and just as many ways to provide for Scouting through planned giving, but what they all have in common is they cannot be created without a vision for the future of Scouting, and without a little bit of planning.
There are, in fact, substantial tax benefits available to the astute planner, as well as ways to provide income for yourself and your loved ones, while still providing for Scouting.
We've listed a few of Scouting's recognition programs for endowment gifts, as well as some other planned giving vehicles below. Browse a bit, and if you see anything that is of interest and would like more information give Finance Director Steve Daniel a call at 336-760-2900, or by fax at (336) 760-4222.
Fifty or a hundred years from now the Old Hickory Council will still be serving young people here in North Carolina. But the manner and quality of that program will be determined by those who act upon their vision today.
