The purpose of this course is to provide Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters with the basic information and tools they need to lead successful Boy Scout Troops.  Topics will include ‘Aims and Methods of Scouting’,  ‘Role of the Scoutmaster’, ‘The Patrol Method’, ‘The Troop Meeting’, ‘Advancement’, ‘The Support Team’ and how to run a boy-led Troop.  Every leader is sure to find several helpful ideas to bring back to their unit. 


Who should attend:

This course is REQUIRED for those Scouters that will hold Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster leader positions within a Boy Scout Troop.  Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters who complete this course, Youth Protection, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training are considered “trained” for those positions. This course is also good for any adults in the troop.
