Laurel District Merit Badge College

Leaders, Parents, Instructors, and Scouts,
Effective  3-13-20

Last night, at the urging of the Governor and our state disease control officials many of the local school systems, as well as state-wide student athletics, have suspended all events, field trips, and non essential functions related to the use of facilities or the need to gather in groups that may exceed 100 people. In response to this request and announcement our merit badge college has been cancelled. We do wish the circumstances of coronovirus were different, but in the interests of being safe and healthy we felt this is the right thing to do.

For those scouts who are nearing their 18th birthday and needed this merit badge opportunity for rank advancement to Eagle we would like to be of service. Laurel District unit leaders/scouts are encouraged to reach out to our District Executive Kevin Cheek 336-760-2900, for possible merit badge counselors who could help a scout full  fill those needed badges at this time.

With cancellation comes a full refund. Be patient, our plan is to credit you in the manner and amount that you paid.

Credit Card Refunds: Your card should be credited with in the next 30 days (it will likely be sooner). Please be on the lookout for this refund and if you have not seen it appear by April 13 please contact Travis Gentry, MBC Dean,

Cash or unit account Refunds: A request for refund through the council office is being requested for you. Patience is the key, but if you have not been refunded by April 13, please contact Travis Gentry, MBC Dean,

We hope that next year, as you plan that you will join us for the 2021 Laurel District Merit Badge College.

Travis Gentry
